STEAM Lab

We have designed our STEAM Lab as a safe and welcoming space where we can learn Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math while having fun!

In our lab we work creatively and collaboratively, fostering critical thinking, flexibility and adaptability, while practicing negotiation and communication skills.

We think of ourselves as confident and resilient problem solvers who view mistakes as opportunities to grow and learn.

Engaged with the world and our peers, we are acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive contribution to society.

Maria Rivasplata

STEAM & Technology Specialist

Thank you for visiting our page!

Hi! I’m Mrs. Rivasplata! I am the STEAM and Technology Specialist at Chaparral Elementary School. I am a graduate of Cal Poly, Pomona, with a degree in Computer Information Systems. This is my 15th school year with Chaparral, and I am as excited to come to work each day as I was 15 years ago.

I live in Claremont with my husband and our two cats. Our two daughters are former Chaparral students who attended El Roble and Claremont High as well. In my free time I enjoy reading and gardening.

I am passionate about encouraging children to think critically and instilling in them lifelong learning skills. All children are born curious, and if we can maintain that curiosity, they will continue to learn throughout their lives.

The best way to reach me is via email.

Thank You, PFA!

Our STEAM Lab would not be possible without the generous support of our wonderful PFA.

Please support the many programs that help give our students the well rounded education they will need to succeed in the 21st century.

Thank You, CEF!

Thank you to CEF (Claremont Educational Foundation) and to all its community supporters for their generous grant! The grant provided the funds to acquire our new green screen studio and our classroom set of Dash Robots. Thank you for your continued support!
