Mountain View is an AVID Certified elementary school!  

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  AVID Elementary promotes student success by implementing specific skills that enable all students to be prepared and organized.  These skills are habits, behaviors, and strategies that students can learn, strengthen and maintain throughout their academic careers.  

AVID Elementary is designed to be embedded into the daily instruction of all elementary classrooms, across entire grade levels, to impact school-wide structures. Like AVID Secondary, AVID Elementary Essentials focus on the four necessary areas to ensure that all students are poised for academic success: Instruction, Culture, Leadership, and Systems.

When preparing your student to be an AVID Elementary student, please see list that was sent home with report card for grade specific requests & note that the following organizational supplies will be required of each student in grades 2-6:

• 2-inch White Binder with clear plastic cover

• 3-ring Pencil Pouch

• 8 Color Dividers with tabs and pockets

• Highlighters: Pink and Yellow (one of each color)

• Ball Point Pens: Black, Blue, Red, and Green (one of each color)

• Post-it Notes

• Spiral Notebooks (two each for grades 2-3, four each for grades 4-6)

• Sharpened Pencils with erasers (two each)

• Hole-punched lined paper

• Basic box of colored pencils

• Basic box of markers

• Small personal pencil sharpener

• Eraser

• Scissors

• Glue Stick
